What to Expect...
First, I will want to know the specific concerns of the parent/guardian/student and a description of the challenges the student is experiencing. I will ask what has been done at school (if anything), and if the student has received tutoring services before. The first meeting with the student will be a "get to know you" meeting (unless we have a previous association) and the assessment process will begin. To bypass part of this process, please fill out the Intake Form ahead of time.
Students respond to intervention in different ways. Sometimes students respond quickly because they haven't yet received the instruction needed to be successful. However, a student with moderate to severe dyslexia will require many repetitions of previously learned skills and a slower introduction of new skills in order to progress.

AssessmentStudent services will begin by assessing proficiency in phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. Assessments will take 1 or 2 sessions depending on the length of our sessions.
